WHAT’S THAT I HEAR – full demo, track
…AND MORE TO COME!
EXPLANATION OF THE VIDEO ABOVE –
The first video clip shows the general plot of the show. A family is taking their last Christmas vacation together before getting divorced, heading toward Pigeon Forge for the holidays. But they swerve to miss a deer (actually turns out to be a reindeer) and get stranded in a little town they think is an amusement park, called “Yuletide”. However, the town is a magical place where every character from Christmas stories is alive and well. So there is Scrooge, as well as Old Man Potter and Geroge Bailey from It’s a Wonderful Life, and even the Grinch. That’s why you have all the film clips from those movies in the first segment.
The second is of a house with synchronized Christmas lights. This was my first plan – to have synchronized Christmas lights just like that house set up all over the sanctuary, pulsing in time with our music. However, Bryan who does lights at NPAC convinced me to switch to another idea, which is the next video…
The third video clip is of laser beams synchronized with music, throwing Christmas-themed graphics in the air and on the walls. THIS is what we will be doing for the “wow factor” on several of our songs. I’ll be playing on the number from the Tran-siberian Orchestra on synthesizer while those lasers are moving, and we’ll bring them back a couple of other places in the show.
The fourth clip is our opening number “WHAT’S THAT I HEAR”, as the family first enters Yuletide and meets the townpeople (who are the choir)
The fifth clip is a Secular Christmas Medley the choir will sing immediately following “What’s That I Hear”.
The next clip shows one of the characters in Yuletide that I play: Ricky Vegas. He’s a combination of all the Rat Pack singers like Dean Martin who did Christmas specials in the 60s.
Finally, there’s a version of “Jesus, What a Wonderful Child” we’ll sing later in the show.
